Therapy Versus Life Coaching

Therapy is usually diagnostic based.  Therapists help people who are having a difficult time functioning in their day to day life.  They focus on diagnosing the non-functioning problem that needs to be solved.  The goal of Therapy is to take you from dysfunctional to functional.   

Life coaching is normally for people who can function in their everyday life but they want to do so at a much higher level. Life coaching, brings you from functional to extraordinary.

Coaching is less focused on pathology and what is wrong.  Instead, it looks at what is happening in the moment and what you want your life to look like. The coach helps you get out of your own way so you can achieve all of your dreams.

The coach works on mental mindset.  One way to think about it is that a Therapist will help get you out of a deep hole, and a Life Coach will normally start at solid ground and get you climbing up the mountain.

There are as many different styles of coaching as there are coaches. For example, some coaches encourage accountability and will tell you exactly what you should do. They are action oriented and focus mostly on what you need to do to achieve results. 

Alternatively, there are coaches who help you see how you’re creating the current results in your life and how you can change those results all by yourself. They will show you how, in any circumstance, your thoughts cause your feelings and how those feelings lead to actions and results.  The coach then gives you the tools to see it and make changes. This is the style of coaching I practice. I coach you AND teach you how to coach yourself so you can not only reach your current goals, but can continue to grow and achieve anything you want for the rest of your life.

Why You Need A Life Coach

If you feel like you’ve carried out your life plan but find yourself thinking you should be happier than you are, then you need a life coach / If you have big goals and aspirations but need the confidence it takes to go after them, then you need a life coach  / If you want better relationships, more money, less stress, self-love and acceptance of who you are, then you need a life coach.

 What Does A Session with Me Looks Like?

Life coaches run their sessions differently but here's what you can expect when we work together.

I meet with you over zoom weekly or every other week.

The first session is complementary. We take this time to make sure we are a great fit and to see which coaching option works best for you. 

After the initial consultation, and we decide to move forward with our coaching relationship, you can choose a 6 week, 3month, or 6 month commitment depending on current offered programs.
